Terms of Service
Last updated 30 September 2026
These terms are between you and Leslie John Tasker, a sole trader trading as Bukkit(“we”, “us”). They cover barbershops that use Bukkit to take bookings (“you”, “the shop”), and, in the last section, customers who book through it.
The short version: 30 days free, then £4.99 a chair a month. No commission on your bookings, ever. Your customers are yours. Cancel any time.
Bukkit is run by Leslie John Tasker, a sole trader trading as Bukkit, of 2 Beresford Avenue, Wirral, CH63 7LS. You can reach us at hello@bukkit.co.uk.
Bukkit gives your shop online booking, a website, a desk app to run the day, reminders, a waitlist, loyalty cards, promo codes, takings reports and a listing in the Bukkit directory. If you set up payments, it can also take deposits and no-show fees from your customers, paid straight to your own Stripe account.
We’ll keep improving it. If we remove something you rely on, we’ll give you reasonable notice.
- Bukkit is for businesses. You must be 18 or over and able to agree to these terms for your shop.
- Keep your login to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- The details you give us (your shop’s name, address, services and prices) should be true and kept up to date.
- Free for 30 days from when you create your shop, with up to 20 chairs. No card is needed to start.
- Then £4.99 per chair, per month, where a chair is a barber taking bookings. You choose how many chairs; you can add or remove them at any time and the charge is adjusted pro rata by Stripe, who handles our billing.
- You pay monthly in advance. If you start your plan during the trial, the first charge is on the day the trial ends.
- If the trial ends without a plan, online booking pauses (your site tells customers to ring you) until you start one. Your desk and your data stay as they are.
- We aren’t VAT registered, so no VAT is added. If that changes, or if our prices change, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
- We take no commission on your bookings, deposits or no-show fees, including customers who find you through the Bukkit directory.
- You can cancel your plan at any time from Plan and payments. It runs to the end of the month you’ve paid for, and isn’t renewed. We don’t refund part months, except where the law says we must.
- You can close your account at any time from your shop’s settings. Closing it ends your plan straight away and permanently deletes your shop, its bookings, customers and site from Bukkit. Download anything you want to keep first.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or goes unpaid, and will tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.
If you switch on payments, your shop gets its own Stripe account. Deposits and no-show fees your customers pay go straight to it. Bukkit never holds your money and takes no fee on it; Stripe charges you its own processing fees.
Payment processing services for shops on Bukkit are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (collectively, the “Stripe Services Agreement”). By agreeing to these terms or continuing to operate as a shop on Bukkit, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as the same may be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of Bukkit enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide Bukkit accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you authorise Bukkit to share it and transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.
You’re responsible for your own deposits, no-show fees, refunds and disputes, and for setting fair ones. Bukkit shows customers your rules before they book, and a customer who cancels inside your free window gets their deposit back automatically.
Your customers are yours. You decide what to do with their details; we store and process them for you, on your instructions, under the data processing terms in Schedule 1. Legally, you’re the controller of your customers’ personal data and we’re your processor.
- Only collect and use customers’ details for running their bookings with you, or with their consent.
- If a customer asks to see or delete their details, you can download or delete them from their page in your desk. We’ll help if you need it.
- You won’t use Bukkit to send marketing to people who haven’t agreed to it.
- You own what you put on Bukkit: your shop’s name, photos and words. You let us show it on your site, your booking page and the directory, for as long as you use Bukkit. You must have the right to use anything you upload.
- Your shop is listed in the Bukkit directory once it has a postcode. You can switch that off in Shop details.
- Reviews can only be left by someone who booked with you and whose appointment was marked done. You can’t hide or remove reviews, so ratings mean something to customers. If a review is abusive, false or breaks the law, tell us and we’ll look at it.
Don’t use Bukkit to break the law, mislead customers, send spam, upload anything harmful, get into other shops’ data, or interfere with the service. Don’t resell it without our agreement.
- We’ll run Bukkit with reasonable care and skill, and fix problems as quickly as we reasonably can. We can’t promise it will never be interrupted.
- We’re not liable for loss of profits, business, bookings or goodwill, or for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen. Our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in that time, or £100 if that’s more.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute, though we’d always rather sort things out by talking first.
If you book with a shop through Bukkit:
- Your booking is with the shop, not with Bukkit. The shop sets its prices, deposits, no-show fee and cancellation rules, and Bukkit shows them to you before you book.
- If the shop asks for a card to hold your booking, nothing is charged unless you don’t turn up. The fee is shown before you book and on Stripe’s page.
- You can change or cancel from the link in your confirmation email, within the shop’s rules. For anything else, contact the shop.
- How your details are handled is explained in our Privacy Policy.
This schedule is the agreement UK GDPR (Article 28) requires between you, as controller of your customers’ personal data, and us, as your processor.
What we process, and why
- Subject matter and purpose: running your bookings, site, desk, messages, waitlist, loyalty, reviews and, if you use them, payments.
- People: your customers, and your team.
- Data: names, email addresses, phone numbers, booking history, notes you or they write, reviews, waitlist requests, messages sent, and references to cards saved with Stripe (never card numbers).
- Duration: for as long as you use Bukkit, then as set out below.
What we promise
- We only process your customers’ data on your documented instructions: these terms and how you use Bukkit. If we’re legally required to do otherwise, we’ll tell you first unless the law forbids it.
- Anyone who works on Bukkit with access to the data is bound to keep it confidential.
- We keep it secure: encrypted in transit, access limited to what’s needed, each shop’s data walled off from every other’s.
- We use the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy, on terms that protect the data as this schedule does. We’ll tell you before adding or replacing one, and you can object.
- We help you respond to people exercising their rights, including with the download and delete tools in your desk.
- We tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a personal data breach affecting your customers, and help you meet your own obligations.
- We help you with data protection impact assessments and consultations with the ICO where they concern Bukkit.
- When you close your account, we delete your customers’ data. Backups holding it expire within 30 days.
- We make available the information you reasonably need to show these promises are kept.
- Where data leaves the UK, it’s protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
